Mike - stop.

Fix your clock - make sure that all timestamps in the logs are moving 
forward.  Clear out the old logs that have mixed up times.  Verify that 
your ntp server sync stays stable over at least several hours.

Until you do this, _NOTHING_ else is worth spending time on.  For 
example, merge-logs relies on time stamps and yours are 
_WORTHLESS_AND_INCORRECT_.
