That's the system-wide next window in application shortcut. Apple-Control-F is 
fullscreen (in Mail or iTunes, didn't check anything else).
YOu probably haven't changed anything, but I cannot reproduce this with the new 
version.

Yes. I'll send you 2 screenshots (before & after) off list, basically it still 
does not resize.
Is there a way to make the side panes top level? Since they are hidden most of 
the time it doesn't make sense to  have to move annotation/snapshot windows 
that might be in the way to interact with the temporarily shown side panes.
