Elvin,

Lionel is very correct! Oracle is bulky, slow and resource hungry. I
personally prefer Informix as it is fast, web-enabled, user-friendly,
uses less system resources and very stable on Linux. My company is
currently using Informix dB on Linux for our MRP/ERP application server
which is on Solaris and the integration with the two of them is
seamless!

Oracle is a brand name and it is only good for huge applications that
needs replication, high availability, fail-overs, multi-gateway and etc
& all these functions in NOT available on Linux yet.

I have net and spoke to Dough Vader, some Manager from Oracle for the
Linux Enterprise Computing Division and he was not so keen to discuss
anything about Oracle on Linux.

I then spoke to Informix and they have always respected me, give me a
lot of information, helpful, very informative and supportive. If there
are no obligations, I will spoke to Informix about this.
