We were going to do this sort of thing for our Internet connection at the
office as a last resort...
DDS was too expensive,
we are on the glebe exchange and a fibre loop so no dsl
cable stops one block up the street...
So,
I think Cabletron is the name of the company that provides this kind of
link.
Its about $6000 for both ends including installation, and gives two 11Mbs
chanels.
At a distance of up to 5km (I think - its at least 3) Its meant to work in
all weather,
and is directional (the ends are not microwave dishes, which would require a
licence,
but rod like, which apparently don't)
It all fell apart for us when we discovered that it was going to be at least
$40000pa to\
rent a spot on a city building for the other end....
damn. $30,000 for DDS here we come.
