Jerryl, The Dlink you are talking about is actually a 4-port switch, with one port router. What this enables is that traffic between the switched ports does not route out the WAN port. But this will not stop the packets between the devices on the switch. Therefore, this is the same as having a plain switch there. You either need to get a more powerful switch that you can set-up smart switch functions (like VLans) or a multiport router. (The first I am sure is what most people would recommend). In DLink's products I think it would be a lyer 2 switch that allows what they call "trunking".
