Eje, Isn't this only true if the other end does the same ? Else you could end up with a non-reciprocal path with (say) fade margin of +5dB in one direction and -3dB in the other. This could mean rates of 11Mb one way (from "amp" end), 5.5Mb in the other, negotiating to the worst (or worse still, switching ro retrying) and the installer wondering why the amp has "no" effect ?
I think we have a different issue in UK. Not sure about you guys but the regs here are about EIRP. So if you crank up the antenna gain you should crank down the radio o/p power for +20dBm EIRP. High gain aerials are still useful for the receive side though. The legal use of amps is very limited here, as you can't get the radio o/p LOW enough.
