I've had quite a lot of LaCie trouble too, though their little  
portable discs seem to me very good.

Recently, they seem to have been better.

It's possible, Virginia, that you've got some sort of driver problem.  
I'd go to the LaCie website, and download and install the latest  
drivers. Then try again.
