The shape of the earth is one factor that can alter gravity. Not the only one. I still don't see what point you were trying to make. You claim I said something ridiculous when I said that gravity varied and that this could affect the definition of the metre if it was based on the pendulum. To the best of my knowledge, what I said was correct.
