There are documented artifacts and ruins from Vikings in Maine.

The lower Missisippi valley has artifacts and ruins that have been
construed as evidence of a Viking influence.

Baja California has 14th century Chinese artifacts.

I _think_ it was the Dahomey King who ordered an expedition to South
America in the eleventh century.
