Hello Maarten, is perhaps a 24/7/365 day proven, external NAS system a choice or the solution for you?
You only have to connect the NAS to one or two LAN Port´s of the net5501 thats simple, but it brings still other cost for this device to you, but you have no more space problem, no overheating problem at all and don´t must hurt this smooth and pretty looking box. But the best after all is, you are able to buy an NAS thats bringing up the capability´s to you, to using more HDD´s with greater volumes and then you only have to mount the volumes in your system! ____________________ Best regards and wishes Frank Schuhmann -----Original Message----- From: Maarten Koster [mailto:mvkos...@gmail.com] On Behalf Of Muffinman Sent: Monday, July 04, 2011 11:02 AM To: f.schuhm...@t-online.de Cc: soekris-tech@lists.soekris.com Subject: Re: [Soekris] Net5501 + Samsung HD204UI 3.5" hdd + 1 slot standard case Very nice indeed, unfortunately 2.5" hdd don't go further than 1TB as far as I know (and I need 2TB) and are much more expensive. I know the issues with heat complicate matters a bit, but if the hdd can be powered by the board, I'll find a solution for that somehow.
