Well if you read the only post in the "soft to maya" group, we are off
to a positive start`.-
I like this list, but I don't want to piss you great people off with my
stupid Maya questions
Believe me... they will be stupid. Just ask Matt Lowery how annoying I
got when he taught me Soft.
So I'll wait for the outcome of this informal poll
so far 2 of us likes the idea of the [OTMAYA] tag :)

The old Maya mailing list is cool but the beauty of a Softimage to
Maya list would be artists who are experienced in both Soft + Maya
teaching you where the equivalent buttons/methods are.
The 'Salvage the list' thread isn't great as its already emotionally
charged by title.
A Softimage to Maya list was made but maybe it would add to the fear
of community migration.

So a [OTMaya] tag or [TOMaya] tag sounds like a good idea. It could
create problems for new posters who aren't aware of a tagging system
but nothing to lose sleep over.

I get what you guys are saying, but with all that's happened in
the last few days, it didn't feel "right" to start asking "how to
do this in maya" questions here.
It almost feels like discussing the will of a loved one while
identifying the body at the morgue.
Also, there is a strong sentiment of fuckyouautodesk at the
moment, and I get the feeling that people who are going towards
maya are doing it very quietly.
So poll:
Could we for the time being ask our "how do I do this in Maya"
questions here with a [OTMaya] tag in the subject line?
This way people who don't want to see it can set filters to send
those mails to hell :)

Hey Ger there is actually a thread called salvage the list, it
has been a discussion about creating a new common ground where
everyone regardless of what they have to use DCC wise can come to
share/ask for knowledge. the point is for people not to split up.

A list, just like this list, with people who have things in
common with the people on this list, is actually *this* list?
If it keeps going indefinitely, as more of us transition to
other software, isn't this the best place to share our
experiences, questions, help etc?

Were are you at the moment Sandy, cause Cape-town, while

Very little worthwhile lists for the dark side G.
but we are running
houdini here now and Blackginger do too, in quite a
big way - so it is
very much gaining ground.

Hey guys
This goes against my grain, but I can sit around
bitching, or I can
move on.
My initial instinct says not to support AD, but
I'm a freelancer and
it is important for me to slot into a team, or
lead a team with the
same software.
Right now the South African market has a nice
collection of both Soft
and Maya freelancers and studios.
Not much Houdini near where I live.
It stands to reason that in the future there will
be more Maya than
anything else.
Only time will tell, but for now it can't hurt to
get really good in
Maya (I hear one needs to be in order to fix all
its fucking bugs)
So the question is: Does a mailing list like this
exist for the dark
side, and if not, will you join me in making sure
there is such a
list for us orphans who needs to bend over and
take it in the dark
place?
Thanks
