Ok, well this was fun... Just for completeness, here's the results of all this. The vote for the schedule did pass -- there were 3 +1s (myself included), and 2 -1s which following the "standard majority" rule means it passed. However, since there was a strong feeling in opposition of a schedule, we're not going to adopt it yet. From this process, it's pretty clear that we do want to have a release in the near future, and generally ~8 weeks is the expected time frame (both from the proposal, and numbers that various developers have been saying both on SA lists and to external organizations). Everyone is in agreement that we need to clean out the bugzilla queue and focus on what is left that needs to/should get into 3.0.
