Good afternoon.
I recently acquired the 1MB VSIMM module for my SPARCstation LX... From
memoryx to my house in 3 days, just as I wanted... first problem: UPS left
it in my mailbox (unusual of them and not to my knowledge until the next
day) overnight, that night happened to be -4F ...
Second problem... the VSIMM almost looks like it can be installed in
either direction... glancing at the setup didn't reveal anything
immediately, although I may have overlooked something on the
motherboard... anyway, it fits... machine works as usual... (I installed
it so the chips were facing the outward, immediately towards the case).
I noticed in a Framebuffer FAQ an excerpt from a SunOS or Solaris
program's output which could reveal the existance of the VSIMM:

Note: On a SPARCstation LX with the optional VSIMM, one will actually see
2M mappable. This is equivalent to a TGX+.

I ran the command present in the FAQ:
dmesg | grep cg
to see the available information, and received only:

fb0: cgsix at 0.60000000 TEC Rev 3 CPU sparc Rev 8 [GX]

I've looked through the entire dmesg output and have found nothing else of
relevance. It appears as though the Framebuffer FAQ may reference Solaris
2.4.. I was wondering if there was any facility available for Linux/SPARC
which could give me similar information.
