Hello All, I have been digging all over the place trying to find
some pointer or anything . I have a Fujitsu mpd3108at ide disk
I am wanting to use with ultralinux . But I thought I'd better
put a solaris label on it first & do a quicky 'compare' .
The solaris formatter recognised the drive right off as .
<FUJITSU MPD3108AT cyl 20926 alt 2 hd 16 sec 63>
I setup a partition table & labeled it .
Then went to 'analyze' & ran the 'compare' .
But everytime I do the compare it stops on cylinder 82/10/0 &
begins to spew errors like .
-------------------------------------------------------------
82/10/0
WARNING:/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad@0,0 (dad0):
Uncorrectable data error: Block 14556
WARNING:/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad@0,0 (dad0):
Disk not responding to selection
DIOCTL_RWCMD: I/O error
dad0: disk okay
84/12/0
...repeat... (but differant block)
86/12/0
...repeat... (but differant block)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Fujitsu's drive information site gives the parameters as
4 hds, 222 to 406 sectors/track, 13033 cyl .
I even tried these but get nowhere near the capacity of the
LBA like setup . And the formatter won't accept a value
for T/S greater then 256 .
I have been under the assumption that the U5 & U10 's did LBA .
Now for a 'it works here' , I have completely setup & formatted
the drive under NT . I am as uninformed after all my searchs as
I was before them . Any insights appreciated , JimL
