Hello Dave (&all),
Well it appears that the drives firmware is buggered (somehow)
After all this I put it -back- on the nt system & said format
it started choking at approx. the same spot . It did run thru
fine the first time though . This is the first time I have seen
a firmware work first time & then start failing after .
I'll try running it thru the 'mke2fs -c' like you sugggest just
to see if it gets to the same place or not . Tnx JimL
