Brian,

I have always found the appendix of the reference book "Hydraulic
Calculations of Automatic Sprinkler Systems" by Pat Brock to be a fantastic
and easy to use reference. It has a full set of charts showing Hazen
friction loss values by pipe material, schedule, size, C-factor, etc. I'm
sure there are other reference books with these charts as well.

As Karen said, spreadsheets are great for this as well if you are not using
sprinkler design software. However, I would be cautious when using plumbing
codes or other hydraulic reference charts to make sure they are based on the
Hazen Williams equation and not the Darcy-Weisbach friction loss equation,
which is more common in other industries.

Good luck,

Subject: Friction Loss

What is the easiest way to figure friction loss when doing hydraulic calc's
by hand? I know the formula that's in the book but I was hoping there might
be a reference chart or something you could use instead. I have a
"Construction Master 5" calculator for working with feet and inches but it's
not set up to do compound formulas like the Hazen-Williams, sure would hate
to have to buy another one just to do formulas.......
