Just attended the NFPA 13 ROP meeting and lo and behold this exact
topic was an issue. Between the mfg fire tests and those performed
under the Research Foundation, some guidance is forthcoming. The
problem is that they are being installed in LH occupancies but are a
shielded fire. By a STRICT interpretation, that sounds a lot like
part of the EHG2 definition (UUUUUGLY). The big difference though is
that although shielded, the air flow is restricted and the mass can
be rather dense. The thrust is to allow them under the Light Hazard
criteria. This looks like it will require some separation by metal
dividers within the assembly. WIth an issue like this, it isn't done
until it's published so all I really want to say is that the calvary
is on the way. The fact that we had guidance last cycle that was
killed on the floor emphasizes this reality. Watch for the ROP in a
couple of months to see how it's developing.
The real hang-up is that the standard 18 inch clearance will be
required. You'll probably see 18mm clearances.

Does anyone know how to protect a room with high density mobile

There is a 2 foot clearance between the deflectors and top of the
shelving.
