For the AHJ's among us...
We have a job did not put hangers on the tie in pieces in the peak of a grid because they are so tight to the sheetrock etc, and the inspector wants them added. When I reread the code it states that hangers are to be installed on every "section" of piping and I have NEVER seen a job with hangers like that. The tie in piece is approximately 3'-0" long an there are hangers on the end of each piece adjacent to this length. The pipe size is 2-1/2" and it penetrates a fire rated wall.
