At times the flow is limited by the hydrant. When higher flow rates are needed
to be verified flowing of multiple hydrants is necessary. Sometimes it's
obvious that the municipal source can produce more.

Use the one test hydrant for the pressure readings and then open the first
hydrant, get your pressure and flows and then open the second hydrant and
record the same. Of course your pressures will drop as you know once you start
seeing the higher flow rate.

I'm assuming you've already gone through your piping network and massaged
everything you can out of the pipe sizes to maximize your resources. I only
ask because you'd be surprised how many designers let the computer pick sizes
and by doing so they have over sized pipe that isn't necessary and just costs
their company extra money equaling reduced profits. They just don't know how
to read the calcs and understand what it all means. They just know how to
click on the "calculate" button on their software.

And for others, adding a pump does not create more water. A pump will not
add 31 gpm to the source.

I know and it works, I am below the curve. The AHJ is not approving because I
have exceeded the flow test by 31 gpm.

If you plot it out on a curve you will have more than 1210 but at a lower
residual pressure.

Subject: Water Supply

I have a project where the system demand with hose allowance exceeds the city
supply by 31 GPM. It's still under the curve but the city flow test was 1210
and my system demand is 1241. Is there anything in the codes that allows me to
exceed the city capscity?

Best regards,
