Why run off to an attorney right away, geez. Write, e-mail, fax or whatever the engineer who produced the documents and request a formal clarification. Go through the GC if you are under contract through one or through the owner if that's who you are contracted with.
There are proper procedures for things like this. If a contractor on one of my projects didn't bother to call me but I got some letter from an attorney seeking clarification, they'd never be invited to bid on a another project our company did and the rest of the project wouldn't be a party either. Be careful and consider the ramifications. Craig L.
