I'd think a tank would be a more redundant supply than a 2nd lateral, albeit far more $ then the 2nd lateral. Get what you pay for, but a tank w/out UG to pump would eliminate your soil problem IF the AS are then fed from interior piping. Might be justified if $ value is high, or egress scary.
Caution tape above the one lead-in could also be effective in preventing future damage to a weakened main, but I wouldn't try to cure problems more than 40 yrs out. glc -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of å... .... Type I-B (IBC) II (2 2 2) NFPA construction Code: NFPA set the water supply to the sprinkerl lateral is looped and redundant, but after that, we are unique. that is, we currently have on the design table, 1 fire pump and 1 fire lateral into the building. My fear is not so much that the fire lateral or spool piece will fail, which in 75 years is a possibilty with high chloride content soil, but that some other trade will break the lateral while digging around for their own system's maintenance. Too conservative in the design choice of redundant fire pump and laterals? Or is it normal and reasonable design for this occupancy and construction to have 1 sprinkler lead-in and 1 fire pump. scot deal excelsior fire engineering _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum For Technical Assistance, send an email to: [email protected] To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[email protected] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field) _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum For Technical Assistance, send an email to: [email protected] To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[email protected] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field)
