First idea is correct--spray patterns. Second idea is bad since both
heads are special application and not intended for this use.

Look at a Tyco F800 spray nozzle: "Typical applications: F800 nozzles
are used to protect...areas such as between rollers of multi-tiered
dryers." These are open nozzles so I'd suggest a deluge system with
linear detection.
