Tom,

The motor and controller have to be matched and listed, i.e. across the
line, reduced voltage, split windings, etc. as well as voltage, delta,
wye, horsepower rating, overcurrent protection. Many motors are 6 lead,
9 lead, 12 lead allowing a combination of voltages and configurations
however it all goes back to the power supply and controller.

Sounds like your looking for technical info versus code references, if
that's not the case let me know and I'll cite code, NEC and NFPA-20.

What type of controller do you have ?. That's the starting point.
Master, Firetrol, Joslyn all have excellent technical info.

Subject: Fire Pump Motor Question

I'm trying to locate a link, not necessarily "fire pump motor" only, but
something I can refer the plethora of electrician who can't seem to wire
a fire pump motor. There are different methods according to the
starting means and motor criteria (single vs. dual voltage, etc.). I'm
finding many of the motor manufacturers' diagrams within the terminal
box don't match the controller manufacturers' wiring diagrams within the
enclosure and neither seem to cover all the possibilities of driver
selection by the pump manufacturers.

Anyone have a good source?
