I have a friend that's at the state senatorial level. He's always told
me that his colleagues pay the most attention to letters (i.e.: snail
mail) with signatures and that real attention is paid to numbers, both
individual letters and letters signed by many people. He always
suggests sending a letter yourself, getting a group together to each
write personal letters, and then getting the group to sign a group
letter. Regardless of your stance on this issue or your political
leanings personal action is how we peasants get stuff done. The power
we have over them is their jobs. They're always fearful we'll fire
them so let them know you're paying attention.
