So... an inspection at a prison facility finds 20 institutional sidewall
sprinklers painted or corroded. New sprinklers should be installed. These as
well as the other 80 sidewall sprinklers in the cell block were installed
incorrectly: they were tightened a quarter turn too far, placing the deflector
in the vertical position rather than the horizontal position.

I don't like the idea of "loosening" the sprinklers a quarter turn to get the
orientation correct. They could very well leak or the "resistant" nature of
the sprinkler could be compromised.

Based on NFPA I can't pull the sprinkler out and re-install it, right?

Sounds like the proposal will be for new sprinklers everywhere.

Any ideas?

6.1.2.2 Reconditioned sprinklers shall not be permitted to be utilized on
any new or existing system.

Is there some where written that says you cant reinstall the heads after
removal?  I am coming up blank in my search on this old rule.
