Living in the Florida, where we have just gotten our 2002 ed. broken in, I have yet to read a copy of 2007. I am left wondering what section 6.2.1 pertains to. If I install a head during rough-in and months later have to remove it during trim-out is it no longer new? and needs to be replaced?
Standard procedure has always been to only re-install heads in the same system they were removed from. But it sure is tempting to save some well- preserved Central Model H heads for those future retro-fits. Anyhow, I don't think we are talking about reconditioned sprinklers which have always been forbidden as far as I know.
