I use AutoSPRINK and cannot imagine using anything else. Easy to use, easy to learn and builds your systems intelligently so that calcs and listing functions are fast and accurate. Even has it's own built in feature for interference checking if you have other 3D elements in your drawing that you'd like to coordinate with. I really can't say enough good things about the program. If for some reason it came from upstairs that I had to switch to a different software, I think I'd choose to pick up my marbles and go elsewhere. After driving a Ferrari, anything else would seem like a Yugo. (Remember those?)

This reminds me how important a small discrepancy in terminology or misunderstanding of terminology can make a very big difference. Similar to a legislator that introduced a bill in the SD Congress to prevent local jurisdictions from adopting residential sprinkler portions of the code. Right after his ridiculous statements on the news about not wanting any builders to lose any jobs because of mandating sprinklers the news cuts away to a lawn sprinkler watering a lawn. I about fell off my couch laughing. Yes it is Autosprink VR that we are considering. Rod -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, December 30, 2009 6:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Mep Cadd There is an Autodesk product called MEP CADD. We use it for general piping, electrical, hvac. It's a piece of junk for fire protection if you're doing detailed design. For 3D building design, it's adequate, some love it, but it has hardly nothing for fire protection in its library. Then you still have to do calcs as a separate effort. No nice and tidy CALC button on the menu. Autosprink, the concensus says big thumbs up.
