Although WHICH AJH is requiring- if its code enforcement and u can propose
an alternative that complies with code, he has to have a erason (citation)
for denial. If its an AE, you could be hosed.

Subject: RE: pull stations (The END!!!)

Ok the requirement for standpipes has nothing to do with how tall any
particular stair well is, but in IBC land, 30' above or below lowest level
of FDP access. Where required, standpipes shall be installed in all
"Required" stairwells. So if the stairwell is required for egress or
occupant load, you put a stand pipe in it.

Ok so you are using a P/A valve and not a DPV because the AHJ requires that.
Got it. If your using a P/A valve you'll need a listed release panel for
those pull stations to connect too, that panel should be able to monitor the
pull stations(I prefer to call them "Remote Manual electric release
stations" but that gets a little long "RMERS")Even with a non interlock you
can have a supervisory air supply, it's just a trouble signal, not a release
device. (No PORV) P/A vs DPV, generally more maint. DPV operation pretty
simple, and Hose valve air leakage is not an issue, it must hold 200Psi test
just like every other part of the system.

So in the end, you're stuck with the AHJ requirements. Will it work? Yes,
but still not the way I would try to do it.

Actually, the "stubby" stairwell is kind of a grey area. It is a required
exit stairwell therefore it requires a standpipe. However, it is only 20'
tall and there fore would not normally require the standpipe. To better
describe it, the stubby serves only the PG in the middle, the stairwell that
serves the other 7 floors starts on the level above the PG and is staggered
in plan view about 80' from stubby. Is a S/P required? I am not sure.

Also, there is no hoses, these are only 2-1/2" hose valves.
