All:

I've had opportunity to use install these in the pulp industry in another life,
and have seen them in my current place. I assume Steve is describing a set up
like this:

Flange by Flange ftg.

Drop bolts in first to ensure its ready.

Clean flange, and tools, then hands. We used acetone from the lab to clean our
wrenches. Now I know it does burn. Not a good idea. Then rubber (probably some
kind of plastic) gloves.

Bolts, flange, and steel washers are normal. If bolts are barely long enough
with normal washers, go up one length.

Special non-conductive gaskets, and washers are used to provide the isolation.
But the real parts that take a little messing with are the sleeves that go
around the bolts. The need to be just shorter than the distance between the
faces of the flanges after makeup. We always had another fitter, and the
operator check them afterwords. This is not a place to try to be productive.
100% was the only acceptable level. The operator had to check something off
some form or report. The goal was to prevent the adjacent tank from exploding.

Then make sure you get something on the wrenches so the don't rust.

Yours,

Bruce V.

Is this at the service entry? You can use a dielectric flange kit at that point
or, as Geo said a dielectric union.

Question I am working on a project where the FPE is asking for a
"electrically isolated joint on the sprinkler feed main just inside the
wall"? Has anyone had to deal with this before...if so what did you use? 4"
