This also could be classified as an I-1 which is generally more
demanding than an R-4. I mention this due to the exception in the IBC
whereby an I-1 can be protected with 13D. IF teh building does not
comply for an I-1, one could still discuss equivalencies in defining
the type of system.

Good morning everyone, I have an assisted living facility with less

persons. It was a large residential home turned into assisted

a group R-4 occupancy per IBC. Is the design based on NFPA 13? Could
design
be based on NFPA 13D?
