Just seen this - am in Scotland where broadband refers to a belt you were over one shoulder to carry your claymore. BAFSA recently commissioned independent tests of sprinklers in car stackers which were very productive. You can see a summary and download the report from: http://www.bafsa.org.uk/publications/general-3rd-party-publications.php Cost quite a lot (for a small trade group !) so feel free Best wishes Stewart Stewart Kidd Secretary General [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Thom Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2010 11:16 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Car stackers revisited I believe there was a reply from Stewart in how they handle them in England where they are more common, and that seemed to be a reasonable approach. Not sure of any consensus. I think GLC has his e-mail if you need it. I know we've discussed this and there are two obvious issues: density and obstruction. I'm not sure that stacking changes the occupancy from S-2 but the Ordinary Hazard Group 1 thing is certainly subject to consideration. If you consider the obstruction issue, there's really no way to realistically get water below the upper car except drops to below the obstruction as we'd do for doors or columns. Which isn't viable as this particular facility will have aisles like a rack storage occupancy. If we overlook the concept of obstruction, we could call it solid piled storage of automobiles, but I'm not sure what class that would be. Has anyone completed a stacker application successfully and if so, what was the approved basis of design?
