Well Thom, I'll give you an A for effort but only a C- for factual declaration. You get the sparging concept. No question. Replace Oxygen through iterations of introducing Nitrogen. However, the final goals for lack of oxygen are NOT to starve microbes (although, this is a great by-product), because microbes are NOT the biggest problem in corrosion of sprinkler system piping (you didn't do your reading!! see FPSCMI white paper #6!!) Simple oxidation is the number one culprit of corrosion in sprinkler systems!! That's right. RUST (or similar). Flipping pesky electrons and breaking down the metal is what oxygen does best.... now throw in some amines of many different flavors and you've got yerself an environment that can "make it happen"! So your ultimate grade for this assignment is: B Well done! Now get out there and protect those cheerleaders!!
