BAAAD Idea...So the GC says they will install the daft stops (or 8"/ - 1/3 of the depth as George states)....then they don't.
There is a fire 10 years from now and the Sprinkler Guy will spend a lot of money defending a BUILDING issue. At the least the listing should read similarly: "drafts tops shall be provided blah blah blah OR the remote area of XXXX sq ft shall be used" The we have a way around and give the owner / gc a choice. But by placing the requirement on a building feature, I will avoid using these heads as HARD AS I CAN.
