I don't know that anyone has a solutions, but I have a 6/12 attic over a Porte' Cochere that cannot possibly comply with 13 based on the minimum 5 ft from the eave requirement of 8.6.4.1.4.3 and the max deflector distance of 12" from the member at the peak. if you measure the distance on the slope from the deflector to the eave where the joists meet per 13, it is 8'-3". Therefore there is no single way to comply fully. I am really just venting, but would welcome good ideas.
