Back in the 2008 edition, the TC deleted the reference to ALIGNMENT since it was being misinterpreted to imply the pipe pitch. This was stated in the proposal that was rejected but then accepted at the ROC. Then lo and behold, the issue of pitch was resurrected at the the ROP for the next edition (ROP 25-63). The TC accepted in the ANEX that the pitch should be checked periodically (verses the suggested 5 yr required interval). At the ROC meeting, the annex text was deleted BUT THE BALLOT HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED.

Gayle,

I think you may be down to the cleverest lawyer level. NFPA 25/2011 5.2.2
specifically says inspect from the floor. If the issue is "inspect for
proper pitch" that is not mentioned at all in that edition. The 2011
handbook even has a clarification note that checking for proper pitch IS NOT part of the annual inspection. As far as I know that requirement may have died with NFPA 13A and is just part of the lore. I'm curious now and
if at work where I have every edition of 25 and 13A as far back as
1970something I'd look. Tomorrow I may not b so curious. You need to
determine the applicable edition and have your lawyer base an argument on
what the law actually says.
