AutoSprink and Hydratec both have Revit plug-ins on the market now. As Travis mentioned about AutoSprink's version, they are still in the infancy stage, but they are available. Hydratec has had a Revit plugin for calcs out for a while.
As for training, there is very little out there that is sprinkler specific. The best you can do is learn the individual software tools then figure out the workflow on your own. There are some videos of it on YouTube and LinkedIn. It is called AutoSprink RVT. I’ve looked into it, but I can’t use REVIT for anything more than import/export. But, for every REVIT project I’ve dealt with, the AutoSprink VR conversions have worked very well. We use it to do layouts but you are manually piping the system and locating sprinklers. Nothing is automated, you still have to manually input data into your calc program. It’s a little bit clumsy to use, you have limited components with which to build your systems, vendor provided families of some devices will kill your model because they are overly detailed and create huge file sizes that no one will reference. They’ve told us they were working on an interface with other sprinkler packages so we could model in REVIT to maintain compatibility and visibility with the other disciplines and then there would be an interface with for example, HydraCalc, but it’s not happened yet. We’ve been using it to do detailed FP layouts for about five years now. Craig L.
