Correct, it will be a second stair for the upper level until you get to the
first full floor at level 10. Then your be roughly in the middle of the
floor and would travel to either end of the building to the full set of
stairs down to the ground floor.

So it's an offset stair, correct? In other words, it doesn't just go from an
upper floor down 3 levels to a lobby, it stays in an exit passageway and you
go horizontally on the transfer floor to a different stairwell for the rest
of the trip down to exit discharge, is that right?

The building loses half of the floor on the upper levels, so it's a second
stair for the top levels. And the ahj is calling it a required exit

Why is there a "partial stairwell"? Is it classified as required exit
stair or a convenience stair?

I have a 12 story project with a partial stairwell on the top 3 floors. The
AHJ is requiring a standpipe at this partial stairwell. My question is to I
need to run another vertical feed from the pump on the first floor, or can I
do a horizontal feed off the standpipe in the opposite stairwell on the
upper level?
