I'm having the exact same problem (except many times per day), but
instead of starting my PC and the local server, I just turn on my Duet
Controller. When it comes up, the Boom and Receiver both reconnect by
themselves without any other action and I can turn off the Controller.

Lately, however, I can't stay connected for more than a few minutes,
anyway, without the Boom again showing "Connecting..." If it is
playing, it will continue playing, but if I want to change the volume
or anything else it quits. I've taken to keeping the Controller by my
bed to reset the Boom's connection when I wake up at night and see the
front panel lights on instead of just the power button so that I can
wake up to the normal internet radio instead of the default alarm.
