Have you checked the battery ? My Starmax 5500
recently had very similar symptoms.No power, no
lights, nothing. I brought it to Comp USA(authorized
starmax repair in US) and he changed a $25 battery(not
covered under warranty) and it came back to life. I
don't know why they designed it this way, because I
have a poower mac 5400 with a dead battery and it does
start. But it's worth a check.
