It's possible; I once got a bad 64MB RAM chip for a 7500 which caused
random freezes. OWC (macsales.com) or VersionTracker.com has the Newer Tech
software "GaugePro" (free download). Turn off virtual memory and run its
RAM tester for a few hours or overnight. That should tell you if the RAM is
bad.
