I get plagued with problems on my 'max - one of them crashes - from 
time to time.

If they are random crashes (rare) it usually means corruption in the 
system folder - could be anything - from a font file, extension(s), 
control panel(s), finder, system, etc.

As 'max and mac users - we are spoilt by good quality hardware (most 
of the time) so rarely do we look at the hardware as breaking down. 
Could be your HD is on the way out or even the fan in your power 
supply has broke and the 'max is overheating.

On a software side I find that Netscape and IE will both cause 
crashing as will Eudora when mailboxes are overly large.
