Ahh, Knology. If it's using Ethernet then there shouldn't theoretically be 
anything limiting it to OS 9. It's been a long long time since I've dealt 
with Knology (I do tech support for a major ISP) but it's been around awhile.

I just talked to the folks here and as far as we know, it's entirely 
ethernet based with DHCP addressing. That means that theoretically you 
could run it on System 7.1 running OT with DHCP. Heck, I think there was 
DHCP on System 6.

Should be fine, though you might have trouble getting their tech support to 
help you with it. My guess is they limit it to OS 9 to minimize support 
costs. It's a lot easier to arbitrarily cut it off at 9 than to try to 
support all the OSes from 7 through X.
