It all depends on what the drive was, and the next will be, used for, which
was never stated in the original e-mail.

That there are alternatives to using floppy discs was a useful thing to
point out - I'm no fan of them and I don't use them if I can help it
(e-mail, FTP and a Zip 100 drive make for alternatives, especially for large
files).

However, I do have a use for them - I transfer files between my 486 PC and
the StarMax via floppy discs sometimes, and my sister has done the same
between the StarMax and her PowerBook 160.

Another consideration is that if the guy is happy with using discs, $10 for
a floppy drive (that I saw offered here) is a lot less than the price of a
Zip drive and a Zip disc :)

Floppy discs are not dead yet...

Hell, I still use 5.25" 200k floppies here sometimes =) I have plenty of
100k ones, too...
