Low system memory and the launcher can't be used?

I think its some kind of file corruption, but it seems to creep back 
no matter what I have tried. Somebody will pop up with the full 
complete answer, but I remember something about trashing finder and 
something else pref files. I'm lazy and just reboot and try again.

I don't think VM is an issue.

Defragging the hard drive is always wise.

Rebuilding desktop (use the techtool free lite version to do this) is 
a good idea after troubles too.
