I have a Realtek ethernet card in my Starmax. It was pretty cheap as I
recall, works fine with OS9 and easy to install the software and card. Both
mac and pc drivers are in the software folders and the whole folder's only
132K so I could email it to you if you need it. You then have to set the
appletalk and TCP/IP contral panels to ethernet. Close the control panels,
saving the changes. The rest of this is from an email I saved: you then-
Go to File Sharing Control Panel, select the "Start/Stop" tab and click
the "start" button- be patient while it may take a few minutes to start file
sharing depending on the number of files on your HD. Do this on both
machines.
When AppleTalk is active and sharing is enabled on both machines, go to
the Chooser (on either machine) and select the AppleShare icon. The name of
the other connected machine should appear in a few seconds. Double click the
machine's name and you will be prompted to enter a name and password. Since
I also presume you are the owner of both machines and these are the only 2
machines to be shared, passwords, security and the such should not be a
concern. The owner name and ID will be that which you selected on the
machine to which you are connecting- again, it doesn't matter which is the
host or which is the client if both machines are right there. Once you
connect, the host machine's HD icon will appear on the desktop of the
client. Just open it up and drag whatever you want to transfer onto the HD
of the client.
