As for the ethernet cable, ends and crimping tool; you might want to consider going with a cable pre-configured and ready to out of the box.
The reason being, that in the long run [no pun intended], it may actually be cheaper for you, and not only easier because you don't have to go out and buy the tools and ends to complete a cable. Also, you get the added assurance that the pre-configured cable will work, whereas one you make yourself might not have been properly assembled due to 'human error'.
Much of what I'm getting at here assumes that you don't already have the crimping tools and ends, and that prices in your area are such that the assembled cable is not too expensive compared to the what's required to make your own.
Either way, have fun.
Also, and for what it's worth, I find the Belkin brand of ethernet cable very good, and especially their 'fastcat 5e', that's only available in black. Nice thing, it wasn't any more expensive than the regular ethernet cable, and is considerably better insulated, thereby offering higher performance. Considering you're running 100' of cable, you'd do well to get a better insulated and performance rated cable. Less hassles in the long run.
Cheers,
Bill
