Hi,

because I didn't get a single reply from the
'STFax-Support-ML' (which should be the major
support forum, as stated in the docs) I'm gonna
post some my complaints a bit more provocative,
maybe the support then listens.

So here we go.

Well after fiddling with STFax settings
for several hours, I got it working
so that it now picks up the phone.

Oh fine, I thought, the greeting message
was loud and clear, I left a voice note
and hung up. Well STFax did the same,
but then the status-window which popped
up for the incoming phone call got frozen.

Only a reboot brings the programm back on to life.

And now the very best!!!
Although there was much traffic on the HD during
the time STFax seemed to record the message,
it is saved, but does not show up when
STFax is started after the reboot.
Nice feature, really.
(This offers the possibilty to the user
to fill up his entire HD, not knowing
why and how. Seems like an imported
 feature from MS Windows 2k.)

A smaller quirk ist, that it seems that STFax
has problems with the MUI toolbar.
I've selected gfx and text for the buttons,
resized the window so that the bar fitted perfectly,
I did a snapshot.
Several times STFax shows up, but the toolbar won't
fit in the window. this seems to happen randomly.
(I'm using the latest custom classes which were
 released with V 3.0.4 (beta).)

Now a major 'bug'.
During my test Mr. Guru 800..08 and Mrs. Guru 800..04
were my constant companions.
(both: Deadend Alert - Waiting for the end of disk activity)
Whow...

E.g. Start STFax, choose the option
'Preferences', then choose 'Voice',
folder 'Script', double click on the
standard script 'Record Msg' and
leave this window open.
Close the 'prefs' window, try to close
the STFax main window, this window is sent
to MUI's busy state, which is reminding you
there's still some other window of STFax opened
and therefore okay, try to close the remaining
window (the one for the script 'Record Msg')
and booom, off we go, Mrs. Guru comes to tea!!!

And another one.
Again choose 'Preferences', select 'Voice'
in the listtree on the left, then and add a new
greeting in the 'Greetings' folder on the right,
name it e.g. 'MyGreet'. A window pops up,
title 'Edit message'. Select 'Record'
with the scroll bar option 'File',
choose a WAV file in the folder RAM:.
And here we go again, booom,
Mr. Guru comes to diner!!!
(The WAV-file worked flawlessly with STFax v3.8,
but the output quality was low, not a single problem
with Multiview (DataType) or ConciertoRecorder,...,
although the file size is about 380 kB)

BTW, until now I only tested STFax v4.1
answerphone capabilities, nothing less nothing more!

So for now, one test, zero points, grade F.
Sorry to say, but that's reality,
but maybe I'm to dumb to handle the programm
or I may have missed the Microsoft label on
the package. Who knows?

I'm using a USR Sportster Flash x2/V90 modem,
for the rest please have a look at the signature.
(Tested with the Amiga built-in serial device
 not with the Hypercom 4+).

Replies are very welcome.
Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Any ideas? Anyone with a similar configuration?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards
