How many users are there on this list? You can't draw a conclusion from
one posting. It's noticeable that this is a repeat posting, the original
gaining no help. Not a single suggestion of help, not even a "me too".
That means that none of the other users on this list have experienced
these problems, so are unable to say how they fixed them.

One of the side-effects of a lack of continuous OS development is the
increasing number of hacks and patches run by people. Combined with the
small overall userbase, this means that individuals can be running quite
unique setups, with their own conflicts and problems.

Remember a support list is their for people to air their problems, it
would be pretty tedious if all the people with a working setup posted
that fact every few days.

I realise none of these comments help Norbert, but I've never experienced
anything like he's reporting.
