You could also use the "rdate" utility (install it via Storm Package)
this sets the time and date automatically with the atomic time from a
server in the US. While connected to the internet type in a shell while
logged in as root:

rdate -s clock-1.cs.cmu.edu && hwclock --systohc

now you could always make a shell script to do this automatically so you
don't have to remember all the arguments for rdate, all you have to do
is open your favourite editor and insert the command above into it.  Now
save this file as, lets say, "time.sh"

whenever you want to update the date on your computer just enter into
the console as root "sh time.sh" (while connected to the internet).
