I was thinking about this the other day. Wouldn't you read the time at
the center of the penumbra of a shadow cast by a triangular gnomon (and
its style)?

Thanks,

PS: Question, what font is being used for the formulas? Sometimes it
is clearly done in a non-justifying font such as Courier, but other
times it is pretty messy and I can't figure out what font is being used.
Partly that is because my mailer cuts off lines at 80 columns and returns
the rest to the next line making the situation worse.
